Frank Gardner
Senior Vice President, The E. W. Scripps Company & Chairman, Scripps Networks
As a senior vice president for The E. W.
Scripps Company and as chairman of Scripps Networks, Frank
Gardner, 62, is responsible for strategic oversight of the
company's national television networks - Home & Garden
Television, Food Network and DIY - Do It Yourself Network.
He also oversees the launch of new national network brands
and other Scripps Networks new ventures, including last
year's launch of the newest Scripps Networks brand - Fine
Living.
Gardner was senior vice president / interactive media from
April of 2000 through the end of 2001 and had been senior
vice president/ television for Scripps since 1993. During
that time he oversaw the launch and rapid growth of Home
& Garden Television, the acquisition of the Food Network
and the 1999 launch Do It Yourself, an interactive television
and Internet network.
After reporting jobs early in his career in Memphis, Atlanta
and New York, Gardner spent several years as news director
at CBS-owned stations in Chicago and New York. Following
a stint as general manager at KCBS, Gardner joined Scripps,
where he was general manager of WCPO-TV in Cincinnati prior
to joining the Scripps corporate team.
Gardner received a degree in journalism from Memphis State
University.
