The Scripps Howard Foundation supports programs that encourage Scripps employees and retirees as volunteers, civic leaders, productive professionals, good citizens, and philanthropists; that reward and encourage their childrens' scholastic achievement; and that improve the quality of life of the communities in which the E.W. Scripps Company operates and employees live.

We are proud of the William R. Burleigh Award Distinguished Community Service, Volunteer Grants, Matching Gifts, National Merit Scholarship and Scholarship America programs.

We hope Scripps employees and retirees will take advantage of the programs that apply and appeal to them.

In 2006 the Foundation awarded a Volunteer Grant to help fund the creation of a civics booklet for students in Evansville, Ind. The booklet "It's My Town, Too" was published in 2008 and is teaching students in schools throughout the community about their role in keeping Evansville clean and litter-free.
