Ted Scripps SPJ Leadership Institute

As the youngest-ever president of Sigma Delta Chi, now the Society of Professional Journalists, Ted Scripps had an abiding interest in the organization. Today, with the support of his sons, Ed and Will, SPJ trains its professional and student chapter leaders at the Ted Scripps Leadership Institute, held annually in Indianapolis. This year's Institute brought together 24 student leaders and 26 professional journalists for an intensive weekend of leadership building. Participants learned about topics such as their individual leadership styles, fundraising, recruitment and chapter goal setting. The program is open to SPJ members who are current leaders or will be taking on leadership roles in local chapters.

For information about the program, contact Heather Porter, SPJ programs coordinator, at 1-317-927-8000 ext. 204, hporter@spj.org  or www.spj.org/scrippslt.asp
