CIRCLE
OF EXSELLENCE
AWARDS

The winners of the 1998 Scripps in-house newspaper contests have earned the right to carry our colors as the best of our best, and their best helps us prove our worth to our readers and to those who would target our franchises for their own benefit. Bottom line: Excellence boosts readership, protects our brands, enhances our credibility and better serves customers and consumers. That's why we honor it. Our second annual winners of the division's advertising "Circle of ExSellence" awards are honored here, too. Scripps newspapers participate in a divisionwide ExSellence program to achieve excellence in selling (hence, "ExSellence"). Each salesperson is scored regularly on a host of categories that together mean excellence in service and partnership with advertisers. Boiled down to the simplest terms, if our advertising co-workers are very good at partnering with advertisers, then readers/consumers, advertisers and our newspapers all will benefit from their association. And, that's why we are so proud of our winners. Alan M. Horton Senior Vice President/Newspapers The E.W. Scripps Company |
